Get Norfolk Greener is coming

3rd April 2023

Get Norfolk Greener is a project by UEA students aimed at working with residents in Norfolk to bring the case for more and faster action on climate change and the energy crisis, to our nine Members of Parliament.  We hope to persuade them to back a pledge* for greater climate action.

In the coming weeks we will be publishing evidence of positive actions which can be taken (and are already being taken) by Councils, communities, business, and other organisations in the County, to make clean energy more affordable to more people, and the existing and potential future impacts of climate change on people, economic activities and nature.

We want to hear from anyone living in Norfolk who’d like to help this effort and help show our MPs that there is support for climate action, and an urgent need to take such action.

If you live in any part of Norfolk and have a concern about climate change or the energy crisis, or you support specific feasible climate solutions which will help bring down emissions, and would be prepared to join conversations, messages or meetings to put those to your MP, we’d love to hear from you.

[*Get Norfolk Greener is a contribution to a national effort by a coalition of 40 NGOs, Warm This Winter, which asks MPs to sign this pledge: “

I pledge to help keep my constituents warm every winter by urging the government to rapidly expand home retrofit schemes, support the swift deployment of homegrown renewables like onshore wind and solar to speed up the transition away from volatile fossil fuels, and provide further financial support to vulnerable households. I will work alongside Parliamentary colleagues to ensure the government goes further to tackle the energy crisis at every available opportunity, – including upcoming fiscal statements and the Energy Bill.
Signed, …………………….. MP”]
