Broadland District Council have instituted an environmental strategy, as well as seeking to achieve net zero emissions by 2030. In the detailed document, commitments have been set out which involve putting environmental decisions at the heart of delivery, widening decarbonisation and engaging, inspiring and equipping businesses.
Already, Broadland have successfully switched their fleet of 33 refuse vehicles to run on vegetable oil (HVO) fuels rather than diesel: this serves more than 100,000 homes. In their plan, they also have outlined the desire to create warm, energy efficient homes which target fuel poverty and support a change to clean energy solutions. Despite this forward thinking, Broadland have yet to declare a climate emergency.
