Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk

In 2021, King’s Lynn declared a climate emergency. They have brought their Council net zero target forward to 2035. Their first phase is focused on reducing corporate emissions to meet the 2035 net zero target. Phase two focuses on the role and scope of influence in helping to reduce emissions across the district.

King’s Lynn & W Norfolk have taken steps which include: installing solar panels in council owned properties; installing air and ground source heat pumps; using green tariffs for electricity, hiring a UEA Graduate to help deliver the climate action plan; and setting up Norfolk Climate Change Partnership (NCCP). The joint refuse collection contract with Breckland and North Norfolk District Council will further improve the efficiency of refuse collection in the district and reduce emissions.
