North Norfolk District Council

In 2019, North Norfolk District Council were the first council in Norfolk to declare a climate emergency.

Their goal is to reach net zero emissions by the year 2030, through means such as providing more electric charging points for electric vehicles and providing more energy efficient improvements to low-income households.

North Norfolk District Council have an understanding that it is essential to involve community (as well as local businesses) in their net zero journey, aiming to provide programmes and events that create a level of ‘carbon literacy’.  One major improvement they have already achieved is the building and opening of The Reef, a new leisure centre for the local community of Sheringham. The centre is built to be as energy efficient as possible, including the use of heat pumps, solar thermal collectors, and LED energy saving lights.
