Breckland<\/span> District Council <\/span>has <\/span>introduce<\/span>d<\/span> plans to hit net zero by 2035 <\/span>in order to<\/span> mitigate effects of the climate emergency. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Their sustainability strategy is composed of <\/span><\/span>three pillars.<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Firstly, they aim to reduce their own impact on the environment within the organization. They have offered carbon literacy training to members of the council to ensure there was no confusion <\/span>regarding<\/span> the scientific language involved with the climate emergency. They have also commissioned an external partner to <\/span>look into<\/span> the most effective way to decarbonize council office buildings through renewable energy sources. However, this is currently is still in the planning phase, and funding has not yet been <\/span>provided<\/span> to implement these changes. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Secondly, they aim to influence behavioural change <\/span>from<\/span> their districts using regulatory powers. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is <\/span>closely linked<\/span> to the third pillar which is to enable the community to take actions for themselves by funding projects such as tree planting, delivering <\/span>additional<\/span> electric car charging points and <\/span>providing<\/span> a means for residents to recycle electric items.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
